Barcelona cruised into the semi-finals of the Spanish
cup Wednesday with a stormy 3-2 win at Atletico Madrid, with all the
goals coming in an eventful first half.
Barca went through on a comfortable 4-2 aggregate though they made a
shaky start in the Estadio Calderon, with Fernando Torres levelling
the tie by making it 1-0 to Atletico in the very first minute.
Neymar quickly equalized for Barca, only for Raul Garcia to restore
Atletico's lead from a hotly disputed penalty.
Everything went wrong for Atletico after that. Joao Miranda made it
2-2 with a luckless own goal, Neymar made it 3-2 to Barca, then
Atletico had captain Gabi sent off for scuffling with Neymar.
The second half was something of a formality, with Barca content to
play out time and Atletico never looking capable of scoring the three
more goals that they needed.
In addition, Atletico finished the game with nine men as Mario Suarez
earned himself a second yellow card for an ugly foul on Lionel Messi.
