AC Fiorentina's new Italian forward Alberto Gilardino
Striker Alberto Gilardino said he looked forward to
improve his scoring record with Fiorentina as the Serie A club
welcomed him Wednesday on his second stint.
"I return to Florence with a great sense of enthusiasm," the Florence
club quoted the 32-year-old as saying.
"My dream is to get my 60th goal in the Viola jersey and I want to
get to 200 goals in the Serie A.
"I chose Fiorentina because of the way the team plays football. I am
really pleased to be back for a new challenge in the Viola jersey.
The group is fantastic and the facilities here are first-rate."
The 2006 world champion played with Fiorentina from 2008 to January
2011, when he moved to Genoa. He scored 48 goals in Florence and a
total of 180 in the Serie A.
Gilardino played the past season at Guangzhou Evergrande, helping
them with five goals from 14 games to win the Chinese league.
"China was a wonderful experience, but it was tough for my family and
I at the same time. I do not like talking about the past much.
Everyone knows what I achieved here in my previous spell. I am now
just focusing on working hard," he said.
