Fan favourite Didier Ya Konan has returned
to Hanover after half a year at Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad, the
Bundesliga club said Tuesday.
Hanover said in a statement that the Ivorian forward Ya Konan, 30,
signed a contract until the end of the season, with an option to
extend it.
"I am coming home, this is a great day for me," Ya Konan said.
Ya Konan, 30, played 153 games in all competitions between 2009 and
2014 during his first term at Hanover, scoring 45 goals.
He hardly played in Saudi Arabia owing to several injuries and his
contract there was terminated late last year. Hanover coach Tayfun
Korkut said that "he will need a few weeks to get fully fit again"
and Ya Konan pledged "I will work hard for my comeback."
Hanover rank eighth in the top flight ahead of a Saturday match at
number five Schalke in the restart from the winter break.
