Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was fined 25,000 pounds (37,800 dollars) by the FA on Wednesday for claiming there was a "clear campaign" against his club. Mourinho made the comments in post-match interviews following a 1-1 draw with Southampton on December 28. The Blues felt a penalty should have been awarded when Cesc Fabregas was taken down, but referee Anthony Taylor booked the Spaniard for diving instead. It came after several other Chelsea players had been carded for simulation in earlier matches. "There is a campaign, a clear campaign," Mourinho said after the game. "People, pundits, commentators, coaches from other teams, they react with Chelsea in a way they don't react to other teams. "There is a campaign against Chelsea. I don't know why there is this campaign and I do not care. Everybody knows it was a penalty." The FA said in a statement the comments were "improper and brought the game into disrepute." Mourinho was cleared of implying bias on the part of referees and was warned about his future conduct. |
